Why choose you? What sets you apart from other Wedding Photographers ?

Unfortunately, when something can go wrong on the day of the wedding, it usually does. The make-up artist has a flat tire, a zip busts (yes, I’m handy with a needle and thread!) I’ve seen it all. And, happily for my couples, I make sure that I never add to the problem. You need a wedding photographer who can “roll with the punches.” What happens if it rains or if the day is running way behind schedule? I’m experienced and nimble enough to deal with all the issues and keep you calm and happy so that you’ll look great in the photos!

Unlike food,  flowers and music, photography doesn’t end on the day of the wedding. When choosing your wedding photographer, you should be certain that he or she is a consummate professional as well as an artist. Why the professional bit? Because you need to make sure that you get everything you were promised easily, in a timely manner and done brilliantly.

Never before has technology made it easier for people to take pictures. Digital SLR’s have taken a lot of the guess work out of photography and rekindled an interest and passion for the craft. That is a great thing. What’s not so good is believing that owning a nice camera suddenly makes someone a photographer. You can’t go out and buy yourself a nice set of pans and then call yourself a Michelin starred chef, so don’t be tricked into thinking that it works with photography. Its easy to take a photo when it doesn’t really matter if you get it right or not. Its easy when you don’t have 300 people standing around waiting for you . Its easy when things are running on time and the weather is perfect and everyone is photogenic and natural in front of the camera. Unfortunately that’s not the ‘norm’. A professional wedding photographer knows this, and has the skills, knowledge, equipment and nature to deal with whatever the day throws at them.

I’m a fairly relaxed sort of person… Sort of !

Theres enough potential for stress on your wedding day. I know that my best photos are always with a relaxed and happy subject, so I’ll do all I can to keep you relaxed and enjoying your day. I’ll make it my mission to make you laugh even if your dress gets dirty, your hair gets messy or you’re simply are over that list of 50 family shots your mum has putt together.  I’ll make sure that I’m unobtrusive when necessary, but boss when it comes to directing the guests for group shots.
I’ve invested in all the right gear to make sure the job gets done.

A professional not only has the right tools for the job, they  have backup which usually means having at least two of them! You can rest safe in the knowledge that when I turn up to cover your big day I have the right equipment and back-up gear to make sure I can deal with anything the day throws at us. That includes additional lighting in case the sun finishes before we do. That includes a boot full of umbrellas in case you get blessed with a rainy day. (I’ve been told its good luck if it rains on your wedding day!)

Do You Travel ?

Yes. I have been commissioned to photograph weddings all over the UK. It is the responsibility of the client/couple to cover all travel related expenses such as Train tickets, lodging, car hire etc for weddings outside of the UKs North West.

How long will you be present to photograph ?

Wedding coverage begins and includes the bride and grooms preparations, location portraits, ceremony and way into the reception. This usually amounts to about 8-10 hours of photographic coverage depending on how we organise the day.

Can I customise my Package?

Of course, additional hours, photographers, ‘Rock the Frock’ shoots, guest signing albums, handfinished prints, save-the-date and thank you cards, and a variety of digital products including a USB drive loaded with your wedding day images  can all be added on an a la carte basis as desired.  If you don’t see what your looking for on my website, just ask.

How many pictures do you take?

This depends on the size of the wedding. On average, you will receive 300 – 500 photos. As each wedding is uniquely different from the next, I will photograph as much as I feel necessary to capture the great moments of your day.

Do you create Albums as well?

I use  only the very best manufacturers in the world to ensure that you are getting the finest albums available anywhere at any price. Our exquisite imported handmade storybook albums and our state of the art coffee table books are offered within some of our packages but can also be ordered a la carte, so you can pick what you want when you want.

What are the on-site requirements for the Photographer?

Due to the long working day (12+ hours easy including travel time), it is necessary for a hot meal to be provided for the Photographer. Arrangements should be made with the catering staff in advance to avoid confusion during the wedding banquet. This should be timed with the guests’ meal so that no photo opportunities will be missed while the Photographer eats for 15 minutes..

I hate posing and having my picture taken, do I have to pose?

I don’t think it looks natural either. I actually make it fun so you don’t even have to think about the photography process.

Group Shots / Formal Shots?

The amount of time give to these shots will be discussed with you prior to the wedding. I suggest to allocate at least 30 minutes for these photos. It is advisable to allocate a special time and location for these pictures to minimise interruptions to your wedding. It is important to coordinate this beforehand to ensure that your preferred guests and family members will be present during the photographing of the Group Pictures.

What type of equipment will be used?

I shoot using professional digital single lens reflex (SLR) cameras and lenses from Nikon, a leading manufacturer of photographic equipment. I will also bring a full supply of backup equipment to every shoot.

I really want you, but you’re out of my budget, what can I do?

Decide what’s really important to you, bearing in mind that the photographer actually creates the long term memories that you will have of your wedding day. Then do the right thing and adjust your budget.

What do I need to do to book you?

A signed agreement and a deposit is required to reserve the date for you. Dates are filled on a first come-first served basis and once a photographer is booked, they’re booked. So don’t wait. Some prime dates are gone 2 1/2 years in advance.

Can I make an appointment to meet with you?

Absolutely. I believe a personal connection is incredibly important. However, if you’re considering other photographers as well, I strongly advise that you meet with them first. Then you’ll have some knowledge of the photography market and a basis for comparison so you can better appreciate the differences in what I offer.

Do you believe in marriage equality and photograph same sex weddings?

A HUGE YES!  I am a massive supporter of the right of any couple, regardless of sexual orientation or gender, to marry.  I have photographed numerous same sex weddings and am always especially honoured to be a part of these wedding days.

Do you have insurance?

Absolutely, I have full indemnity and stock  coverage  !

How long will it take to receive our photos??

My goal is always 30-45 days, sometimes I’ll go over a bit but for the most part 30-45 days is realistic.
